Getting Started
Welcome to Portweaver!
Portweaver is a centralized on-prem web server for managing hardware, user access, and system configuration across your network.
This guide walks through the complete process of getting from deployment to a full implementation.
1. Deploy the Server
Section titled “1. Deploy the Server”Start by deploying Portweaver in your environment:
2. First Access
Section titled “2. First Access”After deployment, Portweaver must be initialized locally:
This step includes:
- Logging in with the default admin account
- Changing the admin password
- Unlocking full system access
3. Configure Users and Security
Section titled “3. Configure Users and Security”Once access is established, configure system access:
From here you can:
- Create additional users
- Assign account roles
- Configure password requirements/enforce MFA
4. Device Onboarding
Section titled “4. Device Onboarding”Before devices can be added, they must be configured for secure API access:
Each device must support:
- HTTPS (SSL)
- REST API access
- SSH access
Once prepared, devices can be onboarded. This process includes:
- Adding device credentials
- Selecting the correct driver
- Establishing API and SSH connectivity
5. Ongoing Management
Section titled “5. Ongoing Management”After initial setup, you can:
- Monitor device health and activity
- Manage users and permissions
- Review audit logs
- Configure security policies
